How to get out of a training rut

Do you ever find yourself feeling a little stuck in a rut with your training routines?
Your workouts are going great yet you can feel that things are starting to get a little stagnant and even a little… boring! You may even notice your results hitting a plateau and you aren’t seeing the results you really want. If this is the case for you then it’s time to shake things up! It’s normal to feel this way at times if you have been doing the same training sessions and going to the same classes for weeks, months and even years. Try some of the steps below to ignite a new sense of inspiration and passion into your workouts just in time for Winter.

Top 3 tips to help you get you get out of a rut.

  1. Mix it up – If you are always doing the same workouts week after week then maybe it’s time to try something new! It’s important that you mix your workouts and classes up to keep your body guessing and your mind inspired. If you keep doing the same thing you will keep getting the same results, so try a new class out of your comfort zone – chances are you might really love it, as will your body!
  2. Pick a new workout buddy – Having a gym buddy or a small group of training friends will keep you more accountable and motivated through the Winter months as you’ll feel part of a team and will look forward to working out together. Make sure you pick a gym buddy that will inspire and push you and much as you can do the same for them, not just one that you can take selfies with!
  3. Start a challenge – Trial a few sessions with a Personal Trainer or sign up for a short challenge your local gym is hosting. Personal trainers are there to motivate and push you through your limits not just physically but mentally too, and you might surprise yourself how quickly you are able to do those exercises you never thought would be possible!
